Races
Please note, when participating in a Club race, rally or cruise, the skipper is responsible for preparing his/her own passage plan and is responsible for the safety of his/her crew. The decision on whether it is safe and reasonable to put to sea, or remain at sea, remains the responsibility of the skipper.
For safety reasons the club has recently introduced a rule that prevents racing, rallying or cruising if the wind speed exceeds F6 or 22-27 kts.
Please also remember to sign the racing log in the Clubhouse and pay the entry fee of £3.00 to the race officer.
The Club race programme includes two types of races, stand alone and points races. Stand alone races mean that you win the cup for the individual race entered. Points races series are won by accumulating points over the season and count towards winning either the Sandpiper Trophy for Bermudian rigged boats or the Old Gaffers Cup for Gaff rigged boats.
Rallies
Approximately 6 rallies are arranged each season (normally weekends) to East Coast destinations however longer rallies have included France and Holland.
Rallying is a good way to get to know your boating neighbour and enjoy the social side of the club. This year we are planning some combined rallies with Brandy Hole YC, more details will be available later in the season.
If you intend to take part in a rally can you please complete the log on the club notice board or preferably e-mail the Rear Commodore (see contacts). If possible please provide as much notice as you can as it makes marina and restaurant reservations easier to manage.
